Biography Joseph Crossno, M.D., Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. His clinical interests include pulmonary vascular development and repair, end-stage lung disease, cardiopulmonary support, and lung transplantation. Dr. Crossno holds a bachelor's degree in microbiology and immunology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He earned his medical degree and a doctoral degree in biochemistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He then completed internal medicine residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond and gained advanced subspecialty training in pulmonary and critical care medicine through a fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine, Dr. Crossno joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024. He previously served as Medical Director of Lung Transplantation at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Dr. Crossno is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, and the American Society of Transplantation. Dr. Crossno's research interests include lung repair and regeneration. His research has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals and he has contributed to books. In addition, he has presented his findings at scientific conferences. In his free time, Dr. Crossno enjoys travel, golf, spending time with his family, watching college sports, and cooking, especially congruent food and wine pairing.
