Jialiang “Shirley” Wang, Ph.D. Assistant Professor School Medical School Department Ctr-charles and Jane Pak | Internal Medicine | Physiology Graduate Programs Cell and Molecular Biology Biography Dr. Shirley (Jialiang) Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Charles Y.C. and Jane Pak Center for Mineral Metabolism and Clinical Research (CMMCR), the Department of Physiology and the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She did her postdoctoral research in Dr. Marc Wein's group at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School supported by the NIH (NIDDK) NRSA T32 training grant. She is a recipient of the NIH (NIAMS) Pathway to Independence Awards (K99/R00). The Wang laboratory takes an interdisciplinary approach that spans genetics, multi-omics, in vivo and in vitro models, to characterize how aberrant factors can lead to skeletal disease and bone cancer. Ongoing projects 1) investigate the molecular programs that regulate the osteoblast-to-osteocyte transition and bridge the gap between osteocyte development and human skeletal disease, and 2) reveal the regulatory role of transcription factors in bone cancer and develop novel transcription factor-targeted therapies.
