  • Biography

    Alejandro Marinos Velarde, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Hematology and Oncology. His clinical interests include allogeneic stem cell transplant and acute myeloid leukemia.

    Dr. Marinos Velarde earned his medical degree at the Facultad de Medicina Alberto Hurtado, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He received internal medicine residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, followed by fellowship training in stem cell transplant and cellular therapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and medical oncology, Dr. Marinos Velarde joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

    Dr. Marinos Velarde's research interests include translational research, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and understanding alloreactivity to allogeneic cell therapy. His investigations have resulted in many peer-reviewed publications in academic journals, he has contributed to book chapters and delivered presentations at scientific conferences.

    Dr. Marinos Velarde serves as a member of the American Society of Hematology.

    In his free time, Dr. Marinos Velarde enjoys hiking and karaoke.
