Biography Download Curriculum Vitae Samer Zaid Kaylani, M.D., FAAP, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in Pediatric Hematological Disorders including Sickle Cell disease, Chronic transfusion medicine, Bleeding/Clotting Disorders and different types of Pancytopenias. Dr. Zaid Kaylani earned his medical degree at Jordan University of Science and Technology. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the Texas Tech University in Amarillo, and gained advanced training in pediatric hematology and oncology through a fellowship at University of Alabama in Birmingham. Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric hematology and oncology in 2015. He initialy joined the faculty at Lousisana State University in 2013 and worked at the St Jude Affliate clinic in Shreveport. He then Joined the faculty at Texas Tech University in Amarillo in 2017. He was the acting Program Director for the residency program starting in 2019. He was the Primary Prinicipal Investigator for Children Oncology Group in Amarillo, having revived the program in 2019. He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023. He is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. Dr. Zaid Kaylani has delivered numerous lectures to residents and medical students, and published numerous academic articles, case reports and poster presentations related to his areas of expertise.He has been awarded numerous awards for his teaching and patient care. Personal Note Outside of work, Dr. Zaid Kaylani enjoys playing the piano, gardening, spending time with his family, and driving his children to activities.
