Biography

Dr. Sirine Baltagi received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and her Medical Degree from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon. She did one year of pediatric internship at AUB- Medical Center focusing on intensive care. She moved to the USA and trained in pediatrics at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital. She then pursued a fellowship in pediatric critical care at University of Pittsburgh where she was chief fellow and then subspecialized in pediatric cardiac critical care at Boston Children’s Hospital.

After completion of her postgraduate training, Dr. Baltagi was recruited to join the faculty at Saint Louis Children’s Hospital/Washington University and stayed on faculty as a cardiac intensivist at Saint Louis Children’s Hospital from 2011 to 2018. Dr. Baltagi then returned to University of Pittsburgh to operate the remote Cardiac ICU at Saint Joseph’s Children Hospital in Tampa. During that time, Dr. Baltagi pursued and earned a certificate in woman and leadership from University of Cornell. Dr. Baltagi joined the faculty at UT Southwestern as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the cardiac ICU.

Dr. Baltagi is interested in heart failure management, critical illness coagulopathy, transfusion medicine, and extra-corporeal support. Dr. Baltagi is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care. She is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society.
