Biography

David Wojciechowski, D.O., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, a member of its Division of Nephrology, and Medical Director of the Kidney Transplantation Program. He also serves as Director of the Transplant Nephrology Fellowship Program.

Originally from Reading, Pa., Dr. Wojciechowski holds a bachelor’s degree in biology magna cum laude from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He earned his medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in nephrology at Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center, followed by an additional fellowship in transplant nephrology at the University of California, San Francisco. 

His is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in nephrology.

Before joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019, he served as director of the Inpatient Kidney Transplant Service at UC San Francisco, and Director of Transplant Nephrology Clinical Research at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Wojciechowski’s research focuses on kidney transplantation, specifically preventing and treating post-transplant viral infections, increasing access to transplantation, and evaluating immunosuppression protocols to maximize patient outcomes and minimize toxicity. He has delivered scores of regional, national, and international presentations, contributed to the third edition of Transplantation of the Liver, and published numerous academic articles.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. Wojciechowski serves as Chair of the Data Safety Monitoring Board for the Department of Surgery, and is a member of the Solid Organ Transplant Program Planning Committee and the Kidney and Liver Clinic Oversight Committee for Clements University Hospital.

Dr. Wojciechowski is Associate Editor of the nephrology section of Frontiers in Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Society of Transplantation, where he serves on its renal transplant fellowship training accreditation committee. In addition, he is a member of the American Medical Association and American Society of Nephrology.
