Holder of the:

Betty and Warren Woodward Chair in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

An internationally recognized expert in aesthetic surgery of the face, breast, and body, Jeffrey Kenkel, M.D., is committed to providing unsurpassed care to patients, educating the next generation of plastic surgeons, and conducting groundbreaking research. He is dedicated to offering patients the latest innovations in nonsurgical and surgical procedures. Just as important, Dr. Kenkel is focused on listening to his patients and tailoring his recommendations to accommodate their goals and expectations. He stresses natural changes with the patient’s safety first and foremost.

“We are on the cutting edge of plastic surgery at UT Southwestern, so my patients can count on our knowledge of current trends in plastic surgery and what’s effective and safe – as well as insights into new discoveries regarding procedures for the face, breast, and body,” Dr. Kenkel says.

Dr. Kenkel realizes that surgery is only part of the solution for patients. In order for the patient to achieve the best possible result, Dr. Kenkel believes it not only requires technical expertise on the part of the surgeon but also a commitment by the patient to embrace a healthy lifestyle, to eat right, and to be physically active each day.

Part of Dr. Kenkel’s dedication to excellence includes being accessible to patients. He works to empower patients with facts about plastic surgery and answer any questions they may have before, during, or after a procedure. Many of his patients are surprised to receive emails from him on holidays or calls after hours to check on their progress after surgery.

As Past President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), Dr. Kenkel served as the national leader for the world’s largest organization of board-certified plastic surgeons dedicated to cosmetic surgery and medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and currently is a member of that group’s board.

Dr. Kenkel appears in the media regularly to provide comments on plastic surgery issues. Past appearances include Newsweek, Allure, CNN, WFAA-Channel 8, Good Morning America, The New York Times, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and many other media outlets.

He has been named as a U.S. News & World Report Best Doctor, one of America's Top Plastic Surgeons, one of D Magazine’s Best Doctors in Dallas, and a Texas Monthly Super Doc.

Dr. Kenkel has authored more than 150 scientific articles and textbook chapters on laser, facial, and body-contouring surgery. He is the Editor of Selected Readings in Plastic Surgery, the most up-to-date teaching tool for plastic surgeons in the United States and 38 foreign countries. He also is Associate Editor of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, the largest scientific journal dedicated to the practice of aesthetic surgery, and is actively involved in the education of plastic surgeons around the country.

In addition to helping thousands of individual patients throughout his career, Dr. Kenkel is one of the plastic surgeons for the Dallas Stars hockey team.
