As Past President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), he served as the national leader for the world’s largest organization of board-certified plastic surgeons dedicated to cosmetic surgery and medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and currently is a member of the board. 

Dr. Kenkel appears in the media regularly to provide comments on plastic surgery issues. This has included Newsweek, Allure, CNN, WFAA, Good Morning America, The New York Times, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and many other media outlets.

He has been named as a U.S. News & World Report Best Doctor, one of America's Top Plastic Surgeons, one of D Magazine’s Best Doctors in Dallas, and one of Texas Monthly’s Super Docs.

Dr. Kenkel has authored more than 150 meaningful, scientific articles and textbook chapters on lasers, facial, and body contouring surgery. He is the Editor of Selected Readings in Plastic Surgery, the most up-to-date teaching tool for plastic surgeons in training and in practice in the United States and 38 foreign countries. He is Associate Editor of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, the largest scientific journal dedicated to the practice of aesthetic surgery, and is actively involved in the education of plastic surgeons around the country, speaking about lasers and aesthetic plastic surgery

In addition to helping thousands of individual patients throughout his career, Dr. Kenkel is one of the team plastic surgeons for the Dallas Stars hockey team.
