Jeffrey M. Kenkel, M.D., FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon located in Dallas, Texas. He is the holder of the Betty and Warren Woodward Chair in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is the Director of the Clinical Center for Cosmetic Laser Treatment, Medical Director for the Department of Plastic Surgery, and the Residency Program Director. His clinical practice is located at the Outpatient Building on the UT Southwestern Medical Center Campus. 

 

Dr. Kenkel is Past-President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the leading professional organization of plastic surgeons who are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and specialize in cosmetic plastic surgery. In addition, he is Past-President of the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgery and also serves as a director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Kenkel is Editor of Selected Readings in Plastic Surgery and Associate Editor of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. He remains actively involved in the education of plastic surgeons around the country, speaking about nonsurgical options for rejuvenation, surgery following massive weight loss, and aesthetic plastic surgery. He has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters and co-authored a book on ultrasound-assisted liposuction. His research focuses primarily on laser and light-based devices and their tissue interaction, as well as safety surrounding body-contouring procedures. He is in the process of developing a noninvasive imaging center to help assess the aging process and the effect of devices on aging. His clinical practice focuses on nonsurgical and surgical aesthetic procedures of the face, breast, and body.

Dr. Kenkel was born and raised in the Washington, D.C., area before moving to Dallas more than 20 years ago. He is married to his wife, Suzanne, and they have enjoyed raising their son and daughter, Matthew and Ashley. His outside interests include golf, hockey, CrossFit, music, and nutrition. The Kenkels are avid animal lovers. They have rescued several dogs around the DFW area and volunteer as a family at the DFW Humane Society. Dr. Kenkel has been a Team Physician for the Dallas Stars since 1996.
