  • Biography

    William Yarbrough Jr., M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He is the National Program Director of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep for the VA Central Office, as well as Chief of the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Section at the North Texas VA Health Care System in Dallas.

    Originally from St. Louis, Dr. Yarbrough holds bachelor's degrees in chemistry and biology and mathematics,, a master's degree in immunopathology, and his medical degree from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. He then completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Mississippi, where he was Chief Resident. He completed advanced training through a fellowship in pulmonary diseases at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in pulmonary and critical care medicine, Dr. Yarbrough joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1988.

    Dr. Yarbrough is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the Americna College of Chest Physicians, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the American Federation for Clinical Research.

    Dr. Yarbrough's clinical and research interests include sleep medicine, pulmonary care, and lung diseases. His findings have resulted in numerous peer-reviewed articles, lectures, and abstracts.
