  • Biography

Hamid Baniasadi, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, as well as the Director of Metabolomics Core Facility within the Biochemistry Department.

Dr. Baniasadi holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Kerman University, Iran. He earned a master's degree in chemistry from the Ball State University, Muncie, IN. Hamid received his Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry from Purdue University, West Lafayette IN, and completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN.

His Ph.D. research focused on the development and application of mass spectrometry based metabolomics for the discovery of disease biomarkers. Dr. Baniasadi has extensive experience over the past 14+ years with MS based metabolomics studies, including targeted and untargeted (global) metabolite analysis using various types of mass spectrometers including: GC-MS, LC-MS (linear ion trap), LC-MS/MS (triple quadrupole) and LC-TOF-MS. He joined the faculty of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2017.
