Biography

Helen King, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine.

Dr. King holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Georgia in Athens. She earned her medical degree at Mercer University in Macon. She completed internal medicine residency training and advanced training through a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of California San Diego.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in infectious diseases, Dr. King joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2017.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. King is the Associate Program Director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship and Faculty Senator for the Department of Internal Medicine in the UT Southwestern Faculty Senate. She is also a member of the DFW Citywide Infectious Diseases Conference Committee, the HIV Fellowship Program Evaluation Committee, and the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program Evaluation Committee.

Dr. King is a member of several professional societies, including the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the American College of Physicians, and the HIV Medicine Association.

Dr. King's research interests include HIV, PrEP treatment, drug effectiveness for COVID-19 patients, STI infections, and many other infectious diseases. Her findings have resulted in several clinical trials, investigations, case reports, and peer-reviewed articles. Her research has also been featured in numerous non-peer-reviewed scientific and medical publications and other media.
