Biography

Dr. Lubna Hussain is board certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine. She trained in Pediatrics at Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin, TX. She joined the Pediatric Hospital Medicine department as an Assistant Professor in 2016. Prior to that, she worked as a general pediatrician in a Northern Virginia practice for six years. She loves children, and understands how highly stressful the illness and hospitalization of a child can be for their families. She chose Hospital Medicine because of the opportunity it gives her to help families through some of the most difficult times in their lives.

Dr. Hussain is passionate about pediatric medical relief and refugee work locally and abroad. She has participated in several medical missions to treat children in Greece, Yemen and the Rohingya refugee camps in the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. She finds that her volunteer global health work gives her unique teaching and care perspectives in her work at UT Southwestern. Dr. Hussain also has a special interest in Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), and is the division representative to the hospital POCUS committee.

Dr Hussain is fluent in English, Spanish, Urdu and proficient in Arabic. She enjoys studying Classical Arabic in her spare time.
