Biography Download Curriculum Vitae Isabel Huang, M.D., joins the medical staff at UT Southwestern PM&R Department after working as an Assistant Professor at the Texas Institute of Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) in Houston, Texas. She received her medical degree in 2011 from The University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio and completed her surgical internship and PM&R residency at John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. As an attending physician at UT Southwestern PM&R department, Dr. Huang's primary focus is on pain management in the Sprague outpatient clinics, especially for individuals suffering from musculoskeletal injuries, degenerative injuries, and neuropathic pain. She has a particular interest and expertise in individuals who suffer from hypermobility. Her clinical and research interests physician wellness particularly in female physicians and early mobilization in the intensive care unit. She also performs consultations for acute patients with spasticity, neurotrauma, stroke, amputation, medical debility or spinal cord injury at Clements Hospital. Her hospital affiliations include Parkland, Zale, and Clements Hospital. She is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dallas County Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Society. Dr. Huang also instructs PM&R resident physicians and medical students. She is on the PM&R Medical Student Committee and has a passion for teaching individuals entering all types of specialties. As a director of the annual Research Competition for UTSW PM&R Residents, she greatly enjoys assisting and encouraging residents with their research endeavors. As her research interests include physician wellness, she is also on the Residency Wellness Committee to foster wellness within her own program. Outside of work, she is a devoted mother of two. Her hobbies include exercising, sewing, and spending time with family and friends.
