Biography

Dr. Badawy was born in New York and moved to Egypt when he was 8 years old, completed medical school at the University of Alexandria, and then returned to the USA to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas – San Antonio. During residency, he focused on quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient safety and instituted educational programs focused on easing the transition from one role to another during the career of the physician. Given his interests in improving medical education on an international scale and his interest in learning to perform high quality research, he chose to do a fellowship in General Internal Medicine here at UTSW. Dr. Badawy’s interests outside medicine include old Arabic music, playing the lute, the occasional tennis match, and adventures in remote corners of the globe.
