Meet Dr. Hina DaveNeurologist Specializing in Epilepsy in Dallas
Epileptologist Hina Dave, M.D., brings a personal touch to her practice diagnosing and treating patients with epilepsy.
Dr. Dave has seen first-hand the effect neurological disorders can have on a loved one. As a child, she beheld the neurological deficits her grandmother developed after having a stroke. The experience stayed with the future doctor, and by the time she entered medical school she knew exactly which specialty she would pursue.
“Neurology was a field where I knew I wanted to make a difference,” says Dr. Dave.
Now, as a practicing physician, she treats patients with the same respect and empathy she would show her own family members, like her grandmother.
Dr. Dave became interested in epilepsy during her residency when she learned more about the intricate and multifaceted nature of the work. Not only does diagnosing and treating epilepsy require an intimate knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the brain, but it also integrates the use of data and cutting-edge technology with patient care.
“It’s very multimodal, meaning there are many different ways of approaching the patient,” she says. “It’s very complex and really interesting.”
In her practice, Dr. Dave works with high-risk patients, especially women with epilepsy who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant. Counseling women during their pregnancy and helping them navigate the experience safely is one of her passions.
