Biography Abby Lau, M.D., M.P.H., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Infectious Diseases. Originally from Syracuse, Dr. Lau earned her bachelor's degree in philosophy from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She then earned her medical degree at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. She later earned a diploma in tropical medicine and hygiene at the London School of Tropical Hygiene and Medicine. She also holds a master in public health degree from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Infectious Disease, Dr. Lau joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015. At UT Southwestern, Dr. Lau is a member of several committees, including the UTSW Wellness Committee, the Kaposi Sarcoma Working Group, the HIV Fellowship Committee, the Institutional Ethics Committee, and the Infectious Disease Fellowship Program Evaluation Committee. She is also a Preceptor for the Infectious Disease Fellow HIV clinic. Dr. Lau is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America and the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. Dr. Lau's research interests include HIV, Hepatitis C, sexually transmitted infections, and West Nile Virus. She has been invited to give lectures locally. Her research has also led to numerous articles in peer-reviewed publications, as well as non-peer-reviewed publications.
