Biography John "Jay" Lohrey, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and a member of the Division of Hematology and Oncology. He is the Medical Director of the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center located at Moncrief Cancer Institute in Fort Worth. I befriend my patients, and I act as their advocate. I know how to listen and work with my patients to figure out what's best. Originally from Oklahoma City, Dr. Lohrey holds a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri. He holds a master's degree in clinical psychology from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. He earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Tulsa, followed by a master's in business administration in healthcare administration from the UT Southwestern/UT Dallas Joint Executive MBA Program. Dr. Lohrey completed a combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency program, followed by a fellowship in oncology, at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in medical oncology, Dr. Lohrey joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015. At UT Southwestern, Dr. Lohrey is on the Clinical Oversight Committee at the Simmons Cancer Center. Dr. Lohrey's research interests incude phase I, II, III, and IV clinical trials in all tumor types. Dr. Lohrey is a member of the American Medical Association and the Tarrant County Medical Society.
