Dr. Murakami completed her Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Washington and her Hepatology fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where she began her career working in the Liver Unit.  She then returned to the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center where her emphasis was in patient care and clinical research of the gastrointestinal and liver complications of bone marrow and liver transplant patients.  For the past 15 years, she has had a thriving private practice in General Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Seattle.   Most recently, while having an active practice in gastroenterology at Virginia Mason Medical Center she was a provider in the Liver Center of Excellence.  Although she was born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Murakami has returned to UT Southwestern and brings a wide range of experience.  Professional interests include viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver diseases and inflammatory bowel diseases.  Her outside interests include traveling, outdoor activities, cooking, yoga and spending time with family and friends.
