Biography

Viswanathan Venkataraman, M.S., M.Tech., M.Sc., CIIP, is a Faculty Associate in the Department of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Division of Imaging Informatics.

I really appreciate the opportunities I have at UT Southwestern to work with a world-class faculty to improve patient care.

Originally from India, Mr. Venkataraman obtained his master's degree in solid state physics from Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai before completing his master's degree in solid state materials in a combined program from Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi. He then obtained a master's degree in physics from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.

A career focus on magnetic resonance imaging

Before joining the faculty in 2014, Mr. Venkataraman was a radiology administrator at Sentara Healthcare in Norfolk, Virginia. Prior to that, he was a radiology administrator in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Division at New York University Medical Center. He also worked as a field service engineer with FONAR Corporation in Melville, New York. In this role, he served as an MR physicist, shimming the magnetic fields on the company's permanent and electromagnetic MR scanning systems.

His research interests include medical imaging informatics, data analytics, and improving workflow processes, primarily for clinical imaging modalities.

Mr. Venkataraman is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, the Soiciety for MR Radiographers & Technologists, and the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine.

Personal note

During his free time, he enjoys running and watching professional sports, especially Dallas Mavericks basketball, New York Giants football and New York Yankees baseball. To date, he has completed nine New York City marathons.
