  • Biography

    Faisal Qureshi, M.D., is a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Surgery at UT Southwestern. He sees pediatric surgical patients at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and Plano.

    In addition, Dr. Qureshi is Director of the Bariatric Surgical Center for children. He is board certified in surgery, surgical critical care, and pediatric surgery.

    After receiving his medical degree from Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Qureshi completed a research fellowship in surgery with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences at the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and another research fellowship in surgery at Johns Hopkins University.

    Dr. Qureshi then completed a residency in surgery at New York Hospital and subsequently performed yet another research fellowship, this time in pediatric surgery, at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, followed by a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a surgical critical care fellow at the University of Southen California and a pediatric surgery fellow at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

    Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015, Dr. Qureshi held a number of leadership positions at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

    He is a reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and has published nearly 50 peer-reviewed articles and nine book chapters. He lectures all over the world on pediatric surgery topics.

    Dr. Qureshi was included in D Magazine's Best Doctors list for 2018 and 2019.
