Biography

Somya Chandrasekaran, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and a member of the Division of Cardiology.

Dr. Chandrasekaran holds a bachelor's degree in history from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. She earned her medical degree at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed internal medicine residency training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She then completed advanced training through a fellowship in cardiology at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, Louisiana.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiology, Dr. Chandrasekaran joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2014.

Dr. Chandrasekaran is the Director of Cardiac Rehab at the North Texas VA Health Care System in Dallas.
