Biography

Jerrold Grodin, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and a member of the Division of Cardiology.

Originally from Brooklyn, Dr. Grodin holds a bachelor's degree in science from the University of Texas at El Paso. He completed internal medicine residency training at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, followed by a fellowship in cardiology at Baylor University Medical Center.

Immediately following the September 11 attacks, Dr. Grodin joined the United States Army, and as a reserve medical officer was called to active duty for three deployments. While in the United States Army, Dr. Grodin received the combat action badge and was a Lieutenant Colonel in the active reserve. He did two deployments to combat zones in Iraq treating critically wounded soldiers, as well as a deployment to Germany to provide cardiology care to the U.S. military war effort and establish the interventional cardiology program.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiology, Dr. Grodin joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2012, after leaving the Cardiology Consultants of Texas, a practice he co-founded in 1983.

Dr. Grodin serves as a cardiologist at the VA North Texas Health Care System in Dallas. He is currently the Director of Outpatient Cardiology Services and the Director of the Advanced Structural Disease Heart Valve Clinic.
