David A. Khan, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Allergy and Immunology. He is the Program Director for the Allergy and Immunology Fellowship program and Director of the Asthma Clinic at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Originally from Chicago, Dr. Khan earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois, where he graduated magna cum laude and also received his medical degree. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and completed his advanced training through a fellowship in allergy and immunology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, New York.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in allergy and immunology, Dr. Khan joined the UT Southwestern Faculty in 1994.

Dr. Khan’s research interests include mood disorders in asthma, rush immunotherapy, and alternative therapies for chronic urticaria. His investigations have resulted in more than 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals and contributions to 12 book chapters. Additionally, he has presented his findings at scientific conferences throughout the United States and around the world.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. Khan has been voted Outstanding Teacher by medical students seven times, and Most Entertaining Teacher once.

Dr. Khan is a Past President of the Texas Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society and is a member of the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters for Allergy & Immunology. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

Dr. Khan was included in D Magazine's Best Doctors list for 2018, 2021, and 2022, and was named a Texas Monthly Super Doctor in 2018.
