Dr. Kalra is originally from New York and received his initial medical training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital in Manhassest, NY in 2004. After graduating, he worked as the ‘Physician in Charge’ of Pre-Surgical Testing at North Shore Hospital, during which time he was an active teaching attending for the Department of Medicine’s training program. In 2008, drawn to the opportunity to further the education of housestaff, Dr. Kalra joined the growing Academic Hospitalist program full time. For his dedication to housestaff education, Dr. Kalra was given Fulltime Faculty Teaching Award in 2010. Dr. Kalra brings to UTSW a strong background in general internal medicine and medical education. He currently specializes in hospital based medicine with a clinical practice that emphasizes patient and family-centered care. Dr. Kalra’s interests outside of medicine include his family, cooking, reading, and baseball cards.
