Biography

David Hales, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Geriatric Medicine.

Originally from Leland, Mississippi, Dr. Hales holds a bachelor's degree in medical technology from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. He then earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson. He completed internal medicine residency training at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Hales joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1994. He is currently the Associate Chief of Staff of Geriatrics and Extended Care at the VA North Texas Health Care System in Dallas.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. Hales is on the Dean's Committee, the Geriatric Fellowship Planning Committee, and the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Planning Committee.

Dr. Hales is a member of the American College of Physicians.
