Meet Dr. Fatma Gul
Spasticity Management Specialist in Dallas
Spasticity management specialist Fatma Gul, M.D., is one of the most experienced physical medicine and rehabilitation experts in her field. For more than 30 years, she has evaluated and treated adults and children with spasticity issues caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke.
That experience means Dr. Gul understands how best to help patients who suffer from spasticity, a tightening or stiffness of muscles that can be painful and interfere with normal activities such as walking, sleeping, or getting dressed.
As principal investigator on a number of clinical trials that investigate the latest therapies for spasticity, Dr. Gul is among the first to know about new treatments that could change her patients’ lives.
Currently, she offers the latest treatments in the form of botulinum toxin injections and intrathecal drug delivery for spasticity management, also known as a baclofen pump.
Being able to help patients function and offering treatments that improve their quality of life is what Dr. Gul enjoys most about her work.
“My care is very patient centered,” she says. “My goal is to help patients achieve what’s most important to them and to help them overcome difficulties caused by their condition. Improving their lives brings me great joy.”
In addition to her position as lead physician in spasticity management, Dr. Gul is Medical Director of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic and sees some patients with general rehabilitation needs.
She has been recognized numerous times as a Texas Monthly Super Doctor, Best Doctor by D Magazine, and other prestigious local and national honors.
