Biography

Dr. Katherine Johnson graduated medical school from University of Missouri-Columbia in 2010. She completed her pediatric residency at UTSW/Children’s Medical Center Dallas in 2013 and subsequently joined the faculty as pediatric hospitalist. In 2018, she was among the first cohort of physicians to become Board-Certified in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. 

Dr. Johnson is passionate about medical student and resident education with a special focus on modeling family-centered, high-quality care. Her commitment to clinical education was recognized by the UTSW Pediatrics Residency Program in 2016, when she received the Excellence in Teaching faculty award. She currently mentors and monitors the training progress of pediatric residents as a member of the Clinical Competency Committee. 

In 2020, she became Medical Director of Utilization Management for Children’s Health System of Texas and Co-Chair of the Utilization Management Committee.  She leads the Physician Advisor Program which serves as the liaison between physician peers, hospital administration, and payers to facilitate communication in providing the highest value care.
