Biography

Felona Gunawan, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of the Division of Endocrinology. 

Originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, Dr. Gunawan grew up in Houston, TX. She holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and cell biology from Rice University in Houston and received her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical Center. She subsequently completed her internal medicine residency and completed advanced training with a fellowship in endocrinology at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut.

Dr. Gunawan's research interests include type 2 diabetes and obesity. Her investigations have resulted in two publications in peer-reviewed journals. She has presented her findings at multiple conferences and forums nationwide.

Personal Note

Outside of medicine, Dr. Gunawan enjoys spending time with family, reading, and traveling.
