  • Biography

    Carol L. Croft, M.D., is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of General Internal Medicine. Her clinical and academic interests include perioperative medical evaluation of surgical patients, preventive care, and patient safety.

    Originally from New York, Dr. Croft holds a bachelor's degree, which she received with honors, with emphases in biology, chemistry, and psychology from the Unviersity of California, Santa Barbara. She earned her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania and completed a residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern, where she served as Chief Resident. She then received fellowship training in patient safety leadership and the Health Forum/National Patient Safety Foundation.

    Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1994 and retired in 2022. She then rejoined the faculty in 2026.

    Dr. Croft’s clinical and academic interests include perioperative medical evaluation of surgical patients, preventive care, and patient safety.

    She is a member of several professional associations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society.

    Among many other honors and awards, she received the UT Southwestern Leaders in Clinical Excellence Institutional Service Award in 2020.
