Biography John "Matt" Hancock, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Hematology and Oncology. Originally from Dallas, Dr. Hancock holds a bachelor's degree in molecular biology from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his medical degree and completed internal medicine residency training at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He completed advanced training through a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Michigan. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in hematology, Dr. Hancock joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023. Dr. Hancock's research interests include the influence of genetics on von Willebrand's Disease. His clinical interests include hemostasis and thrombosis in conditions like hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease, and other cases of heavy bleeding. Dr. Hancock is active in several professional societies, including the American Society of Hematology, the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society, and the International Society on Homeostasis and Thrombosis.
